Happy Birthday Aunt Andrea!

This week hasn't been much of a work week for me, which is a good and bad thing. After missing work on Wednesday due to strep throat, I get to work Thursday to find out over half of our surgeries canceled and we were done by 10 am. Andrea was keeping Caroline, so we headed to her house for a pool party with my ER girls to celebrate her birthday!   I told C she was the luckiest baby ever to have two pool days within a week! :)

We lathered up in the baby SPF 50 and she smelled so good all day!

Then nana and pop came to town to help load up a bunch of things for our yard sale Saturday and C was quite the happy girl. She might not have napped but three or four thirty minute naps yesterday, but she was all smiles for the most part.

Her little personality is blossoming pretty quickly! She already fake coughs when we do, yells and "talks" to us, and has excellent head control. So glad that she loves the pool and can't wait until next summer!

Down with the Sickness

Mama has been sick and it hasn't been easy. Whew. Monday night I had to work late until 8 doing appendectomies (they come in emergency sets of three every time) and was aching all over with chills. Tuesday morning I couldn't swallow so looked in my throat and saw white spots...and then spiked a one hundred degree temp. Yuck. Last night I burned up all night and C must have picked up on my ails because she woke up several times. I am one tired mama. I am feeling better today with antibiotics and Motrin and her little energy hasn't slowed down a bit. This girl is wide eyed and always looking around all the time, screaming or yelling.

For example......

Then we nap for 20-30 minutes.

Then ninety to nothing again! Something tells me she is going to be energetic like mama. Praying she doesn't get sick too!

Splish Splash

This weekend we got our little ladybug in the pool and she loved it! We went to Andrea and Garad's after church and had some fun in the sun. She lasted about 30 minutes in the pool and never cried once... I just figured that was enough time for her. :) I think her favorite part was wrapping up in a big towel afterwards and napping on mama in front of a box fan.

First of all we woke up at nana's on Sunday where we all spent the night and took a few pictures before church. She went to the nursery for her first time and I didn't even cry.

Caught some happy smiles! Nana can just look at her and she will crack a grin.

Then we played outside in the 90 degree weather after church while mama watered the ferns and flowers.

We got in the car to head to Andrea's and C took a cat nap.

We got her pool float for twenty dollars at Wal-Mart and she didn't like leaning back in it so we held her little back up. She really isn't big enough for it yet though.

Daddy and his naked baby playing.

Then she got a little tired of all the fun.

Andrea loves C so much and C feels the same. She is staying with her one day this week! Thank you Andrea for helping mama and nana out!!

Happy girl on the way home. I think she had as much fun as we did.

The hardest thing sometimes is finding ways to entertain her between 6 and 7:30 because she gets fussy. Sometimes I am finding ways to keep her from taking her last bottle until right before bed. Last night was easy because she sat there with me on the swing for an hour and never made a peep. She loves swinging outside.

We had a great weekend. I have to make her 4 month appointments for a couple of weeks from now and can't believe it. Our little girl is growing right before our eyes.

Hurry up, Weekend!

I work four 10 hour shifts and my off day is Tuesday, so Monday's aren't nearly as bad. However.. the Wed-Thurs-Fri stretch every week about kills me... especially with C at home! Wednesday's flat out stink because we do a lot of vascular and urology cases in the afternoon that keep me late and Thursday's after 5 I am on call so......needless to say today is a Wednesday and I am give out! But I did want to do a quick post to share this cute as can be picture of my happy girl after she woke up from a nap!

Wearing her "daughter of a firefighter" onesie that daddy loves... She is such a doll!

Play Date with Molly Kate

On Saturday we rode to Cousin Molly Kate's and hung out for a while. It was so much needed fun. Maleia and I are first cousins (our moms are sisters) so needless to say, when I found out I was having a girl we were pretty excited for these two to be friends. Molly Kate often plays with her baby dolls and calls them "Caroline" (Tee-line) and feeds them and makes crying noises. Too funny.

These girls love some Mickey Mouse!

While the girls watched tv, Matt ordered us steaks from 50 Taters and they were to die for! Maleia even walked Caroline around while I got to enjoy my steak and baked potato. It was so good and I was very thankful. Those two have helped us out with baby stuff so much.

The next day we celebrated Nicole and Heath's wedding shower. I didn't get many pics since I was pushing C around
in her stroller, but I did manage to catch this grumpy cat face.

Caroline got plenty of attention from Grandma and Granny (my two biological grandmothers) and they ate her up. My granny, who is on the right, is a hoot.

We had a great weekend with family. Daddy came to pick us up and we were all smiles.

The third month is proving to be much easier as far as C staying awake and content longer... And dare I even say sleeping better. Hoping for a good uphill progression this month!

Weekend's Here!

Happy Saturday morning, everyone! Now that I have a baby I appreciate the weekends more than I ever have. Daddy is working today and doesn't get off work until tomorrow morning so of course we are spending the day with Nana when she gets off work. Our Friday off was pretty wild and crazy... We went to get sno-cones, of course!

Quick selfie to remind myself that this child looks so much like her daddy it's not even funny.

To try to convince myself that she looked a little like me, I downloaded the "Like Parent" app and it rubbed it in my face even more.

And did it one more time with even more defeat.

Oh well...so after our sno-cone strolling trip C and Daddy played pretty hard.

We tried for a few bumbo pics.. And got some pretty serious and funny faces. I'm sure she thinks I am nuts.

And then we went to bed at 8... To wake up three or four times throughout the night. We ended up in the recliner since daddy had to work today and needed to rest. Without going into too much unnecessary detail and just being completely transparent,  I am coming out of a serious case of postpartum depression. I went through some serious sleep deprivation that went up to 50+ hours without sleep and working.... And about lost my marbles. It happens. Without my mama, Kyle, and God I do not know what I would have done. I am still not 100% better, but life is getting a little easier on not a lot of sleep. The one thing I have used to cope is perspective. Reading someone's infertility struggles at just the right time when I am feeling exhausted of rocking a crying baby.... Or just thinking about how we have a healthy three month old who isn't in the NICU or wearing oxygen or being diagnosed with cancer. We will pick reflux and gas over that any day. Anyway... I really hope everyone has a great weekend and enjoys the sunshine! I know we sure will.

A Quick One

Somebody made a shopping trip with mama and nana to Target and lunch at Five Guys. She was a perfect baby!

And then visited mama at work the next day and got rocked to sleep.

Nightly routine with daddy... Bath, lotion down, jammies and hair brushing.

It has been a pretty good week.. I am on standby tomorrow so it's kind of like a three day weekend (without getting to sleep in.) Hoping for some sleep!
